The Hourly Check-In That Changed Everything
I used to be overwhelmed by my to-do list, always busy but never making real progress. Then I found a stupid-simple practice that fixed it.
I used to be overwhelmed by my to-do list, always busy but never making real progress on important matters.
Then I discovered a simple practice that transformed my productivity:
The hourly accountability tracker.
Every hour, my timer rings to answer these questions:
- Am I working on what actually matters right now?
- Is this moving me toward my real goal today?
- Or am I avoiding something harder?
The first time I honestly answered these questions, I felt… “wow, this is stupidly useful.”
I’d spent three hours searching for the “perfect” stock images — a task that achieved neither goal.
“Just one more image lah,” I’d tell myself, falling into the comfort trap of busywork.
We’re attracted to these tasks because they feel productive without the pressure of actual creation.
Now, each hourly check-in forces me to face reality.
After doing this, I still occasionally caught myself wasting too much time organizing notes unnecessarily.
But I catch it fast now. That’s the difference.
The beauty of this system is its simplicity.
I’m not trying to change my entire work style at once.
I’m just making one good decision each hour, focusing on one productive session at a time.
This hourly reset has become my secret weapon against procrastination.
It’s not about being perfectly productive — it’s about consistently making better choices, one hour at a time.
